A very good evening everyone….
This is my eighth reflection. This week is i and kak na’s turn where i had presented about the Provision of Public Law 99-457. I was less confident at first because i can’t understand the topic clearly. Public law 99-457 is aimed to provide early intervention services for all eligible children as defined by legislation. The components of EHA part C was proven and was retained and refined to maximize support towards achieving the objectives of the early new intervention and preschool initiatives.
The public law not only focuses on the child but also on the family. Law shifts from a child-centered, single agency planning effort to a family focused and multidisciplinary effort. Individualised Family Service Plan is a paramount importance to the child and family. It is a statement of child’s present level of physical development, cognitive development and so on.
As far as i know about inclusion is it is divided to six components…
There are six phases of inclusion. Students may be included by the definition of inclusion’promoting the restructure of general education so that all students are educated in that setting from the beginning of their school careers’.
any student can be placed within general education and not to be accepted. The appropriate social skills for social integration are not taught or have not been taught.
2. Emotional inclusion
After a student has received a majority of his/her education separated from general education and is returned to general education,an emotional shock from change may arise. Rules, routines,procedures and so forth are different. Classwork and assignments are new.
3. Behavioural inclusion
New behaviours are expected as environments change- both for students and teachers. Many students behaviours became misbehaviours when inclusion occurs.
4. Physical inclusion
his face of inclusion probably was the first concept for inclusion and relates to the mandate of least restrictive environment. The placement met the concept of the law may not have allowed for an appropriate eduction.
5. Academic inclusion
Physical inclusion is normal. Academic inclusion needs growth.
6.Inclusion by Assessment standards
Next was Farah’s presentation….
Farah did about the five features behaviors towards low achiever mentioned by Kauffman. The students should know consequences of appropriate behavior and misbehavior. Teacher should give clear direction and hold firm their expectations. Teacher should provide instruction which is clear to the children. Teachers must find a way to make their material used interesting. Teacher should reward the right behavior.They must give attention primarily when students are behaving in appropriate way. There are some demands appropriate for children’s abilities which is high expectation leads to the students pressure and so on….
Then Niesa presents her slide…..
Niesa did about multidisciplinary team. She have to describe the roles of five members in the team who is general and special educator,principal, parents and students. The general educator shares with other consultant about the goals that can be achieved and so on. The special educator recognizes suitable techniques to be used towards students with special needs.Parents should provide information about the students current performance. Principal should monitor’s the students movement in school.Students are responsible for their own studies outcome.
