I’m sorry for posting my reflection quiet late…..It’s because i was busy with other presentations and macro teaching.
So this was the last day of tutorial question’s presentation. It was started by ahmad khusyairie and prasna. Then it was ended by Nurashikin. Ahmad Khusyairie and Prasna presented about the 1 Malaysia Concept which is really important to our country. The concept evolves around culture of excellence,perseverance, acceptance, education and so on. 1 Malaysia seeks to improve the relations of all malaysian regardless of race and religion. According to Ahmad khusyairie, 1 Malaysia concept caters the needs of all sector of plural society and also to ensure equal distribution of wealth between racial groups and so on. 1 Malaysia’s goal is to preserve and enhance this unity in diversity which has always been our strength and remains our best hope for the future.
The strategies are culture of excellence, perseverance, acceptance, education, integrity, meritocracy, humility and loyalty.
Next presenter was prasna. She presented about the obstacles that may prevent the achievement of 1 Malaysia concept. As she explained, in the school system, there is ethnically and linguistically polarized primary schools. Almost 90% of chinese and 50% of indian students had no opportunities to interact with malay students in the same category. There is also a quota system for the school. There is some religious sentiment among them where ethn- centric [weird and immoral]. Difference is measured by family background, attitude and so on. There is unhelpful religious sentiments which undermine the practice and institution of other religion. The language also had become one of the factor. they have their mother tongue such as tamil and chinese. They can’t accept Bahasa Melayu as an official language. It shows the difference between the races. Next is goal, where it is not ethnically integrated, not common and shared goal and so on. The last one is speciality where special position of malays and bumiputera occurs.
The last presenter was Nurashikin. she presented about cooperative learning. In describing cooperative learning, we can organize classroom activities into academic and social learning, structuring positive interdependence, assess as a whole group and so on. There are three commonly recognized types which is formal and informal cooperative learning and cooperative based groups. Some of the models are jigsaw,think pair and share, group investigation and so on. There are some way to implement the model which is positive interdependence, face to face interaction and lot more.
